day 16 of my #30daybloggingchallenge Thoughts on education

I think education is never a bad thing and in my opinion, you are never too old to start over.

I am 41 years old with a Bachelor in Arts in Mass Communication from The University of Tulsa. I graduated in December 2002 and have worked at home as a writer/researcher for the past twelve years.

I decided recently, it was time to go back after trying to get a job in Public Relations and being told I need additional training. I decided to take Advanced Composition to raise my g.p.a. before I began my official courses this spring semester. In a matter of weeks, I raised my g.p.a. from a 2.6 to a 3.0

My feeling is that an education is valuable at any age. I also feel that  education is never a waste. It broadens life experiences and teaches things about the world that someone might never have known before. It opens people up to those who are unlike themselves and widens the worldview.

My feeling is that if someone chooses to use their degree in a non-traditional position; that is not something to be discouraged, but celebrated. There were many trailblazers in history and we can always use more. Not everyone follows the same path, not do they desire to.

I am excited to officially begin my degree in the spring semester. I have a ways to go, since I have decided I may be pursuing the Digital Media certificate as well as an Associates. I will see what comes for me afterward. But I remain open to life's possibilities and a bright future.

Life is getting back to normal

It has been a rough few months with lots of personal issues. I'm glad to say that things have settled and are calming down. On the plus side, I have an interview with a PR agency Monday morning on what things I would like to do in the company. I approached the CEO online and they were apparently impressed with what they saw. I'm also working as a Business Manager or commonly known as Account Executive at my college. I am also enrolled in 9 hours for the spring semester; Honors TCC Connection, Intercultural Communication (online) and Writing for the Mass Media. Christmas prep is going along great. Most of our gifts are under the tree or in stockings. Kenneth as usual, wanted socks and underwear. Lol. He chooses practical gifts for the most part. I'm also getting him some gift cards and candy. I'm getting us both a pair of Christmas pajamas that we can wear Christmas Eve. I got a griddle for my mom. It's the only thing she asked for. I have a few gifts under ...

Things are looking up

Things are changing around here... My husband got a promotion to Assistant Manager at Wal Mart. We are waiting to find out where his job will be. It could be within driving distance of Tulsa, but we aren't for sure. We do know it should be in this area. He has to attend a four week class to be trained in his new job before he is moved. Which means that Japan is postponed until a later date. Another bit of good news...I'm going back to college. I'm attending Tulsa Community College and studying Strategic Communications, otherwise known as Public Relations. I will be finishing my Associates degree there and lack 6-8 classes! I am also being approved for financial aid. I will only be going part time since that is what my aid will cover due to my previous degree. This works out well for me anyway due to having seizures and being unable to take on a full schedule. Once I have completed this degree, I will be attending Oklahoma State University to finish my B.A. in Strate...

Hello there!

Hello! For those who don't know me, let me pour you a glass of sweet tea and let's chat. My name is Gabrielle Farringer and I am a Disney fanatic. I always have been ever since I was a little girl. A little about me: I am happily married to a man named Kenneth since 2006, but we've been together since 2000. Our 12th wedding anniversary comes up next month on June 17th. I have a spirited furbaby, Nando who is the light of my life. I love Disney, WWE, cooking, shopping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. My first trip to Walt Disney World was on June 18, 2006 when we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter for four days, followed by a 3 day cruise on the Wonder. It was a fabulous time and one we still fondly remember! Since then, I have visited Walt Disney World 10+ times and Disneyland twice. My husband and I took another cruise on the Wonder in 2010 as well. I am looking forward to sharing more with you and hearing from you! Tata for now Gabrie...
