Happy Labor Day!
This is day 3 of my #30daybloggingchallenge, favorite quote.
My favorite quote is from Walt Disney, "It's kind of fun to do the impossible."
This quote sums up how I've dealt obstacles in life. Anything I really wanted took a while for me to achieve it. When I finished my GED, my dream was to go to my dream school; The University of Tulsa to study Mass Communication.
It turned out that I had the grades, I had a solid 3.0 average. The problem was socialization; admissions didn't think I would make it through even one semester at TU since I hadn't had traditional socialization. They recommended that I go to Tulsa Community College for a few years first and follow their transfer degree plan. Then, come back when I was ready to transfer. So, I enrolled at Tulsa Community College immediately after hearing that. I wasn't going to let anyone stop me from getting into my dream school.
It took three years to be able to transfer to The University of Tulsa. It was three of the best years of my life other than when I got married. I transferred to The University of Tulsa in 1999 and it was another three and a half years before I graduated with a Bachelor's in Mass Communication. I also earned a Minor in Marketing Communications and a Certificate in Visual Communications.
It was one of the happiest moments in my life when I graduated because I finally proved to myself and everyone else that I could do it. But soon after, I had to recuperate from a tragic accident which left me having to learn to walk all over again. I walked unaided in less than a year, much to the doctor's surprise.
I've also lived up to my favorite quote by traveling solo to Walt Disney World, something many said I couldn't do. I live by a simple rule; never tell me I can't do it or I'll break my neck to do it. I've traveled to Walt Disney World 10 times in the past 12 years. In those 10 times, 4 of them have been solo trips. I love solo trips because I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. If I want to hang out at the pool all morning, I am free to do so. If all I want to do is spend a day shopping at Disney springs; I can. I love the parks, don't get me wrong. My favorite is Epcot, but I just love getting away from the parks as well.
I'm looking forward to making many more so called impossible dreams come true. I'm ready to make changes in my life to make me happy which can in turn, help my family....and I'll get there. Because as Walt Disney said, "It's kind of fun to do the impossible."
