Finish strong!

We're down to the last few weeks folks! I have to finish my editorial on the college admissions scandal this weekend and this month will be attending a religious service for intercultural communication. On the 18th, I will be attending the Campus Activities Board for student leadership recognition and then a gala for winning a scholarship! This has been a challenging semester with lots of illness and pain, but I can see the light. I will have three weeks off until my summer classes start. I am taking Social Media Marketing and Honors TCC Connection. My job requires all students working there to enroll in a class each semester to advance their learning. In the fall, I am taking Principles of Advertising, Honors TCC Connection, Digital Photography, and Japanese I. Wish me luck! Gabrielle

Here comes the winter storm!

We are expecting a winter storm from noon until 6 a.m. tomorrow. If we stay above freezing, it might not be so bad. That's what I'm hoping. I still feel sick and now, I'm having stomach cramps and nausea. I feel miserable and can't wait until this passes. I just want to get back to my life. I am working on projects for my work while at home and I completed my assignments for class early. I want to keep my average up so as to obtain scholarships. On a happy note, in one month is Spring Break! My cousin Leesa and I are going to be in Eureka Springs for most of the week. We are staying at a Best Western. On the way back, we are visiting Grove, Oklahoma for the day. Next month is going to be a busy month. On March 9-10, I am volunteering at the Big 12 conference at the BOK Center. I am truly excited to put this experience on my resume. On the 15th, I am going on a bus tour sponsored by Tulsa Community College to see the Mother Road. We will have Michael Wallis, the voic

Why going back to work was the best thing I could have done

I was a stay at home wife and furmom for the better part of a decade. I enjoyed it, but it got to where I needed more. I needed challenges and interaction from other people. I went back to college at Tulsa Community College last fall and aced my class. I applied and started working at The TCC Connection in December 17th. It has been a great experience for me and I'm loving meeting new people. I love the interaction with my coworkers and the camaradie. I also enjoy being involved in campus activities and being a part of the campus activities board. But mostly, I've enjoyed being a part of a community again. I enjoy being busy and having exciting new challenges everyday. It's days like today where I am at home ill that makes me appreciate my new life. I enjoyed my old life, but I have a great new one and I couldn't be happier.

Sick day

I'm home sick for a couple of days. I've had chills, cramps (that time is coming), coughing, sneezing, and sinus headache. Basically, I feel like hell. My boss told me to stay home until I'm better, so I'm working from home. I finished all my assignments well ahead of time and am doing well in my classes. So I've earned a day or two off. I'm going to try to be back in Wednesday, but we'll see how I feel. Just a blah day.....

Busy, busy, busy!

Things have been so busy around here! I am still working at The TCC Connection and am also volunteering with Campus Activities Board. We are working to get some spring activities around campus. I am applying for various internships and scholarships. I will not close any opportunity and am keeping my options open. Thursday afternoon, I am going for an interview for a part time weekend job to help out with expenses. I am going to volunteer at the Big 12 wrestling championship tournament in March and then go on a day trip with fellow honors students to see the Mother Road in Oklahoma. It has been a busy time and it is only getting busier. I am working hard in my classes to earn the best grades I can. I'm going to try to take as many honors classes as I can so I can graduate as an honors scholar. Gabrielle Farringer Business Manager TCC Connection

One month in...

Yesterday I hit a milestone. It has been one month since I started working at The TCC Connection. I must say, it has been a learning experience. I love having a job that I come to work excited about. So many don't have that luxury. I love that where I work is an award winning newspaper and that many of the staff have won awards. It's rewarding to think that I have an opportunity to do the same. Working at The TCC Connection affords me so many opportunities I never would have had in just any job. I was able to attend a state regents education board meeting yesterday which was an interesting experience. I never would have had that opportunity if I didn't work with the college newspaper. Working at The TCC Connection is easily the best decision I ever made in recent years and I'm looking forward to all the great opportunities ahead.

Monday it all starts

I start my second semester back Monday! This semester, I am taking three courses; Writing for the Mass Media, Intercultural Communication, and Honors Connection. The Honors class is part of my position as Business Manager at The TCC Connection. I attend work meetings once a week and classes twice weekly. I've been told that the Intercultural Communication course I'm taking is going to be interesting. A friend of mine told me that it involved going to cultural opportunities and experiences, then writing about the experience.  I interviewed at Resolute PR today for a position. I was able to secure the interview by contacting the company on my Instagram direct message. I enjoyed the interview and meeting everyone. The inside of the building itself was very classic Gothic, while the office itself was modern. The office was located next to a Topeca coffee. I certainly was excited to find out they had great local coffee for $2! This year, my goal is to work at The TCC Connecti
