Here comes the winter storm!

We are expecting a winter storm from noon until 6 a.m. tomorrow. If we stay above freezing, it might not be so bad. That's what I'm hoping. I still feel sick and now, I'm having stomach cramps and nausea. I feel miserable and can't wait until this passes. I just want to get back to my life. I am working on projects for my work while at home and I completed my assignments for class early. I want to keep my average up so as to obtain scholarships.

On a happy note, in one month is Spring Break! My cousin Leesa and I are going to be in Eureka Springs for most of the week. We are staying at a Best Western. On the way back, we are visiting Grove, Oklahoma for the day.

Next month is going to be a busy month. On March 9-10, I am volunteering at the Big 12 conference at the BOK Center. I am truly excited to put this experience on my resume. On the 15th, I am going on a bus tour sponsored by Tulsa Community College to see the Mother Road. We will have Michael Wallis, the voice of the sheriff in the movie, Cars.

On March 27th, I am going to my neurologist to talk about where we go from here. My seizures are better controlled now and I know my triggers; hormones and stress. He has said I will remain on Lamictal, but may be taken off Topamax. I only take Topamax when my seizures spike since it tends to cause the "Dory syndrome," ie, forgetfulness.

So that's my life right now. April 1st, we will be having a spring carnival that I am volunteering with in the Commons at my college. That is also the day that enrollment for summer/fall opens. I will be enrolling in The Connection both semesters and this fall, I will be a full-time student so as to be eligible for scholarships.

The classes I'm considering:

summer--Honors Connection
TBA (depending on what I get into)

 fall--      Honors Connection
              Spanish 1
              Principles of Advertising
Videography (for my digital media certificate)

I will keep you updated...

Things are looking up

Things are changing around here... My husband got a promotion to Assistant Manager at Wal Mart. We are waiting to find out where his job will be. It could be within driving distance of Tulsa, but we aren't for sure. We do know it should be in this area. He has to attend a four week class to be trained in his new job before he is moved. Which means that Japan is postponed until a later date. Another bit of good news...I'm going back to college. I'm attending Tulsa Community College and studying Strategic Communications, otherwise known as Public Relations. I will be finishing my Associates degree there and lack 6-8 classes! I am also being approved for financial aid. I will only be going part time since that is what my aid will cover due to my previous degree. This works out well for me anyway due to having seizures and being unable to take on a full schedule. Once I have completed this degree, I will be attending Oklahoma State University to finish my B.A. in Strate...

Finish strong!

We're down to the last few weeks folks! I have to finish my editorial on the college admissions scandal this weekend and this month will be attending a religious service for intercultural communication. On the 18th, I will be attending the Campus Activities Board for student leadership recognition and then a gala for winning a scholarship! This has been a challenging semester with lots of illness and pain, but I can see the light. I will have three weeks off until my summer classes start. I am taking Social Media Marketing and Honors TCC Connection. My job requires all students working there to enroll in a class each semester to advance their learning. In the fall, I am taking Principles of Advertising, Honors TCC Connection, Digital Photography, and Japanese I. Wish me luck! Gabrielle

Why going back to work was the best thing I could have done

I was a stay at home wife and furmom for the better part of a decade. I enjoyed it, but it got to where I needed more. I needed challenges and interaction from other people. I went back to college at Tulsa Community College last fall and aced my class. I applied and started working at The TCC Connection in December 17th. It has been a great experience for me and I'm loving meeting new people. I love the interaction with my coworkers and the camaradie. I also enjoy being involved in campus activities and being a part of the campus activities board. But mostly, I've enjoyed being a part of a community again. I enjoy being busy and having exciting new challenges everyday. It's days like today where I am at home ill that makes me appreciate my new life. I enjoyed my old life, but I have a great new one and I couldn't be happier.
