So here are 20 facts about me that some may know and some facts that are obscure.
1. I am an only child. My parents were married in the late sixties and I was born in 8 years later. They had infertility and nearly lost me in childbirth. I was born a preemie at 3 pounds, 5 ounces. I was a bit sheltered and a lot spoiled as a child, being I was the only child. My family indulged the grandchildren in both Christmas and birthdays. We were all very fortunate to have a great and loving family.
2. I am married to my best friend, Kenneth. We met online in 2000 while I was studying Mass Communication at The University of Tulsa. We dated for six years until 2006 when we were married at Five Oaks Lodge in Jenks, Oklahoma. We've been married for 12 years. We celebrate two anniversaries; April 25th which was our first date in 2000 and June 17th which is our wedding anniversary.
3. I am a stay at home furmom to a spoiled Chihuhua Nando. I work at home also writing and doing social media projects.
4. I am a Disney fanatic and always have been. I blame my cousin Leesa's mom for my Disney obsession. She got me hooked on Disney at a young age and I never looked back. I've always loved the Disney movies, the Mickey Mouse Club, and most of all, the Disney destinations! My first Disney visit ever was in 2006 on my honeymoon. We spent four days at Port Orleans Riverside and three days on the Disney Wonder. Subsequently, I have been to Walt Disney World many times over the years and Disneyland twice.
5. I am bionic. Just after college graduation, I fell down two steps leading into my garage apartment and landed on my lower right leg, crushing it. I had to have surgery involving four metal plates in my lower right leg; two on each side. It took me five months to learn to walk unaided. The doctors were astounded since with the injury I had, they estimated a year.
6. I am the product of homeschooling. I was home schooled through most of my education from fifth grade to the GED. At the time I was growing up, I lived in a rough neighborhood and opportunities were very limited for young people, especially girls. So it was decided that I would stay in homeschool until it was time to go to college and get me out of there.
7. Besides Disney, my other passion is WWE. I have loved Wrestling since I was a child and was raised on it. My favorite wrestler growing up was Rowdy Roddy Piper. In later years, I was a fan of such wrestlers as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock, Ric Flair, and Shawn Michaels. My new favorites include The Shield, with Seth Rollins being my favorite.
8. Recently, I returned to college to study Strategic Communication, aka Public Relations at Tulsa Community College. I already have a Bachelor's degree from The University of Tulsa, but in order for me to get a job the social media/public relations field, I needed additional training. I am planning to finish the degree and possibly obtain a certificate in digital media as well. After speaking to a career counselor, I may just finish my Associates and be done with college. It depends on the job market and what i want to do.
9. I am a YouTuber since 2012. My channel has gone through various changes over the years and still will in the future. My niche is lifestyle vlogging and Disney topics.
10. I have a nighttime routine. I have to brush my teeth, wash my face and use toner, brush my hair, put on lip gloss and calming skin lotion to sleep. In that order. It can not be deviated from or I cannot sleep. I also sleep with a sound machine on with sounds set to rain or an airplane. My husband has just learned to live with it, because this is how I wind down to sleep.
11. Every Saturday and Sunday, I have to watch "Four Weddings" and "Say Yes to the Dress." They are my guilty pleasures and I love getting caught up in them. My favorite character is Monty Durham, he's hilarious.
12. I'm not a feminist and I make no apologies for it. I love being a woman and I love men. I don't feel oppressed because of my gender; on the contrary, I feel empowered. If it weren't for me, no one would run the house I live in. We share a home with my mother and she is always busy with her friend or her work. My husband's job keeps him very busy and he is not able to take care of things at home. I am left to do it. I cook, clean, pay bills, make doctor's appointments, pack my husband's bags for when he is going on work assignments, and keep everyone on schedule. I have been judged for being in a traditional role, but I don't care. I believe feminism is about choice, not just one group's perception of choice. My choice is different than others and that's okay, because it's mine.
13. In my marriage, we don't discuss politics. He is very conservative and I am an independent. I have learned to live with his beliefs and there are just some things we don't talk about to keep the peace. It might not work for others, but it works for our marriage just fine.
14. Despite having infertility, I am pro-choice. My mother nearly lost me and I don't believe it's any one's business to tell a woman what she can do with her body. Now, I don't believe it should be used willy nilly, but it should be an option if needed.
15. I am a carnivore and so is my husband. Don't bother trying to convert us. I love meat and in particular, red meat. My favorite way for it to be cooked is medium. Kenneth's favorite is to borrow a line from the late, great Anthony Bourdain, "still bleeding."
16. I am a major geek. I love Harry Potter, Star Wars, and most Marvel movies. I enjoy some games and have gone to gaming conventions with my husband. I have also attended Star Wars Weekend and it was awesome! I hope they bring it back once Galaxy's Edge is built.
17. I love to travel and want to have more opportunities soon. I love cruising, theme parks, and I would love to have a chance to stay at a locations such as Sandals. I've secretly wanted to visit the island of St Lucia. It looks so beautiful from pictures I've seen online. To be honest, that's one reason why I'm trying to work more. I'd like to visit exciting destinations while I'm young enough to enjoy them.
18. I'm plus size; I am a size 20-22. My heaviest weight was 255 a few years ago. I have lost approximately 30 pounds since then. I am also a junk food addict, although I am trying to add some healthy choices in my diet. I am also going to try to work out at the gym again and get back into a routine. It's something I need to do for me, no one else.
19. Fall is my favorite season and I love the crisp weather. I love the fall festivals and college football. Love the colors of the season and all the decorations! It's such a great time of year, not to mention the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte makes its yearly appearance.
20. I've made some great friends online and have traveled to Walt Disney World with one of them. I am also best friends with my cousin Leesa. I love to make friends and be sociable as much as I can. Great friends are one of life's joys and I cherish them.
